clorinspats replied to your post: like since I watched that movie everything kind of…the cheap starchy food is actually why America has so many weight problems, tbh. most people eat only what they can afford and aren’t educated in food, so they eat what they eat and don’t monitor it so well. my dad, too, and now he’s on acarb-free diet and has lost tonnes of weight and has gotten that much better for it (of course leaving room to cheat once in a while). idk about you but i think food education is something everyone needs, esp. if they have trouble losing weight.gosh i should have just reblogged this. anyway about the lethargy i always tend to eat fruits (mostly apples or bananas, those are the ones that work for me) to push the energy up. V: okay i’m done now reaLYLY
Yeah really, I never really had any food education what so ever. All my dad did was take me out to eat every single day of my life. I know I try to eat “healthy” with my college student lifestyle but it just gets hard sometimes when I get into a deep depression (when was also explained in the movie :D). I JUST REALIZED that it also makes sense about the whole “food depression” thing. Cause I would eat just tons of startch and hardly any protein so I went into a deep depression for months at a time. UNTIL my mom would call my uncle and I would chill out all day there and he would feed me all sorts of yummy things (like bbq wings and the like, THERE WAS ONE TIME HE EVEN GOT CRAB). But yeah it totally makes sense to me now :3 I totally agree that there should be more education on how much food affects moods and stuff. Maybe then people would be like “oh I know how to lose weight and it isn’t the bs garbage the government tells me”
That’s cool that your dad lost a lot of weight from that diet :D I know my roommates friends family went on that diet and they say it’s working out really well for them. So I can’t wait to try to start it myself since it might even help with the tingles in my fingers (when I have too much sugar) or when I get the shakes (from not enough sugar). OMG plus it would be so nice to be skinny (I’ve always remembered being heavier than other kids). Ugh it would be so nice. I did some reasearch on a low carb diet, looking at what veggies are good and which ones are bad. I’m really sad that corn is on the list of bad veggies since I really like corn :< I can still have it once and a while though. Since it is good to indulge a little every now and again so you don’t break the whole diet by consuming TONS of what you crave xD
Oh yeah I know that banana’s have a nutrient in it to help keep you awake, I really should buy more banana’s since they are at the 99 cent store xD
WOW I’M SORRY THIS POST IS HUGE
no I love talking about food and food education there is always something new to learn
oddly enough the supersize me movie is what first got me interested in learning about food, but when I actually went and started learning everything I could I realized that it was a bunch of bunk. spurlock was really silly about it (super drama!!).
honestly everything behind eating well and maintaining or losing weight is being aware of what one eats and portion control (as well as being aware of how one’s body reacts to food). i think i weighed the least when i ate 6 small meals a day and snacked maybe once a day, but only if i was really hungry. at the same time, though, i exercised vigorously (i trained in parkour for a while).
despite everything i learned i didn’t learn until recently about cheating in diets being actually good for you!! i still did it (mcdonalds or taco bell, man, i love fast food) but i didn’t realize it was helping me (or anyone!) lose weight. now my family actually has a cheat night (WINGS MMMMMMMMMMMMMmmmmmmm). it makes us happy and our bodies happy and it’s just goddamn delicious. and also DAMN i am so jealous of the crab meat! i love crab but i hate getting them out of the shell. idk about you but one of my favourite things to do with the claws is to keep the tendons and stuff in and make it open and close like a mouth IT’S SO MORBID BUT HILARIOUS I DON’T KNOW WHY
also corn is like…in everything anyway. i wish i could remember why it’s not a great veggie to eat but for me corn is a once-in-a-while thing. bananas are great for funks for me (i like to make “cookie dough” with it, basically mashing up the banana and mixing it with peanut butter and dark chocolate chips) and apples ALWAYS wake me up. i’m nutters for fruit, i swear. they’re the perfect sweets. at the same time i LOOOVE my proteins (eggs, chicken, bacon, turkey, lamb, quinoa, beans, etc) but i tend to avoid thick slabs of meat simply because i don’t like how it tastes anyway. it makes me sad when people turn their back on such important parts of their diet (not necessarily the meat, but the protein in general) and throw it about as being bad for you in the first place.
food is so complicated and beautiful and body chemistries for people are so unique it’s so amazing i wish i knew everything
i think i may have typed more than you at this point bahahahaha
You probably did BUT WATCH OUT I MAY MAKE A TYPING COMEBACK.
Omg that Supersize me movie was way too over the top. They could have toned it down just a tad. I find it funny that in my AJROTC class we actually watched that movie xD It was super hilarious and dumb at the same time. There was one time they even forced us to watch Highschool Musical >_> I zoned out so hard that I don’t even remember what happened during the movie. I really with Spurlock would just release his food diary so we can all point and laugh at how dramatic he was. Like I still laugh at the time he threw up cause he ate too much xD so dumb
Yeah dieting isn’t just about what you eat, it has to do with how much you eat. I actually shrunk my stomach to a decent size by eating by portion size. So I would always have a piece of meat the size of my palm, half a can of veggies (since it’s stupid that there are 3 servings of veggies in that 1 can!) and the whatever serving size of the starch I made (usually the pasta side things since those are easy and only $1). So usually with that portion size I would get 2 meals out of it. It worked pretty well since I can hardly eat the same amount that I could before I moved out to go to college. (my stomach was stretched out so big when I lived with my dad because he hates having left overs so we would sit at the restaurant and try to eat everything. Plus it didn’t help that my dad eats so fast and I eat really slow. So I would try to hurry up and eat as fast as I could without leaving leftovers.) I don’t think I’ve tried having lots of little meals a day, I know my roommate loves to do that >_> and it kind of annoys me since she has so much food and I have diddly poop.
It makes sense that you should treat yourself like that though. Since like I said before you might just break your diet if you don’t indulge a bit. Diets aren’t super strict either, as long as you take in below x callories you can go over it every once and a while. Like I noticed on some days with the one Fat Head dude he went over his 2,000 cal for the day, but only a couple of times. So I’m guessing he got a sunde or a pie or something a little extra as a treat. I would exercise but it’s just way to hot here @.@ (it’s way too way too easy for me to have heat stroke) I’ve thought about buying a gym membership for the platinum fitness down the street but they had retarded prices. I would have gone to a Golds Gym BUT THEY GUY BOUGHT OUT by that dumb Platinum fitness here >_>
The crab I had actually wasn’t that good :< It was a tad old (my uncle was SO PISSED, since he got it to treat my aunt for mothers day). He did make it taste pretty good by adding garlic to the melted butter and added some seasoning to the water that he boiled the crab in. I actually sliced my thumb open trying to get into a claw xD it kind of stung from the saltiness of the crab meat but I ate all the crab and then cleaned it up and put a bandaid on it xD I was so greatful for my uncles kindness of sharing it with me.
I think the corn may be bad because it’s got that starchy quality to it (corn starch :B ). Yeah corn seems to be in everything :/ OMG that mashed banana thing sounds soooooo good. I’d have to substitute the peanut butter with sunflower seed butter but still that would be awesome. Fruit is just awesome man, like I go crazy for mango and berries. Proteins are the best! Chicken, beef, pork, turkey, eel, salmon, cod, shellfish, AND LAMB YUM. I love gyros okay, so much so that I wish I had the money to get them from My Big Fat Greek Restaurant (their gyros are so good @w@ and they have a goat cheese appetizer that is soooooo yummy!). I wish I could eat more eggs though. They make my tummy upset if I eat them a certain way or if I eat too much of them :< They are just such a cheap source of protein! Omg same, I get sad when people just don’t have any proteins at all but I guess that’s their thing. Like HOW ARE YOU LIVING, you need protein bro.
Food is totally amazing. I think my favorite part is odd food combinations and making food look like something but taste like something else. All those crazy food shows on Food Network are so cool @w@
HAHA I think I typed more than you! :B
